Nature does not allow events to happen accidently. Only those which desreve, do happen and they have some definite purpose behind their happening. Therfore, happenings need to be respected so that they can reveal their secrets.

In the my spiritual practice I am taught to not see problems from the vantage point of victimhood but rather from the point of view that all things come to us for our instruction. So one would pray not for release from misfortune but rather, pray for an understanding of the misfortunes purpose in our lives. Here in Earth School that's the whole point of life. Karma in the form of misfortune is wasted on the recipient unless one learns the lesson. The lesson repeats as many times as necessary until it is grasped fully. So, not looking deeply the into events that impact us is a detriment to our own happiness and spiritual development. So Mr. Chopra is correect, 'There are no accidents... there is only some purpose that we haven't yet understood'... but should.

I can speak from a very personal stance here. We have all had borderline and some outright awful things happen. I have MS. I devoutly believe that everything happens for a reason which we may or may not understand. Yet. Sometimes we are also given the grace to understand now. Sometimes not.
