I used this every day for years to help me ground myself while dealing with an illness. What I realized one day is, in being at peace with what is, I no longer needed courage. I had already changed the only thing I would ever need to.

This was from the closing prayer of Pastor Niebur in 1928 at his church in Detroit. The sermon was titled "Practical Christianity"...the quote is only the first of three paragraphs.

the original prayer is a native american prayer :" Creator grant me the serenity to accept thoe I can not change, the courage to change those I can, and the wisdom to know that one is me"

This piece was given to me, when my brother died a few years back. And even when my father went in for a bypass this keep us going. It is indeed the most beautiful and deepest quote and a way of living I've ever experienced. We can't change our circumstances in some instances, and this is a way of dealing and praying with it. Thank you.
